We have taken CREHO, an acronym derived from “Regional Center for the Western Hemisphere” as the short name for the organization. When instead of CREHO, use the full name is the same Ramsar Regional Center for Training and Research on Wetlands in the Western Hemisphere.

The management process for the formation of CREHO began in 1997, but the official establishment of CREHO in Panama was in 2004.
